Process and Application Engineering Manager

BHS is looking for a Process and Application Engineering Manager to join the team in Eugene, Oregon.

In this role you will provide leadership to the Process and Application group, a team focused on delivering process design engineering and equipment applications support for BHS system design and installations. You will interact with multiple departments including Sales, Sales Engineering, Project Engineering, Purchasing, Project Management and Field Service. Additionally, you will collaborate with other departments and groups to effectively implement and execute operations deliverables by engaging in training, continuous improvement, process standardization and develops product specifications for both internal and external components to ensure correct application of equipment.

If you have these qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities…

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, process, or chemical engineering or related field preferred
  • Four (4) plus years’ experience in an equipment design and manufacturing business with performance evaluation requirements in an engineering capacity
  • Must be comfortable with work in processing facilities including heights, climbing ladders, and using narrow walkways
  • Experience with 3D solid modeling and software such as Revit, SolidWorks, or Inventor (preferred)
  • Prior experience managing, supervising, and/or leading a workgroup required
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with supply chain processes and working with project estimating a plus
  • Must have prior experience with collecting, quantifying, and interpreting field data as well as developing and implementing field testing plans

  • Leading and overseeing the Process and Application engineering teams, including employee management, hiring, training, and performance management
  • Working with the Process and Application engineering teams to develop and implement new and improved processes to maximize operational efficiency across all corporate divisions
  • Assisting Product and Project Engineers in process improvement and integration techniques including providing training and guidance to junior engineers as needed
  • Coordinating with Product engineering teams to contribute to project plans that utilize low cost, scalable and reliable new products
  • Developing Process Flow Diagrams for systems and reviewing proposed processes for feasibility and function
  • Developing complete System Mass Balance calculations to support equipment sizing assumptions, material recovery guarantees and overall system performance
  • Researching and analyzing data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to evaluate feasibility and/or cost requirements of new technologies, designs, or applications including life cycle projection and maintaining documentation for reference purposes
  • Communicating equipment applications throughout new and existing project life cycles to support commissioning and performance evaluations including metrics to quantify system performance
  • Managing equipment application testing internally and in the field
  • Interfacing with internal R&D and product development groups to support development and implementation of new or improved products and processes
  • Specifying equipment for applications and working with vendors and BHS Supply Chain on the purchase of vendor supplied equipment
  • Traveling up to 30% of the time to customer job sites to perform equipment evaluations and system performance testing
  • Communicating with Project Management regarding design intent and system performance in relation to customer concerns as well as project specific budgetary information
