Field Service Technician Trainee

Location: Eugene, OR

BHS has an opportunity for a Field Service Technician Trainee.

In this role you will work alongside Field Service Technicians to learn how to deliver pre-and-post project service support to customers worldwide while maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction in the industry.  Functioning as part of a team, you will work both in the field as well as in the office, providing administrative support for work site specific items with the Global Service Coordinator. You will also be trained to have shared responsibility for service and warranty support, customer training, site inspections, customer expedited service and parts solutions for BHS project installations.

If you have these qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities...

  • Associate degree or Trade Certification in a mechanical or electrical field preferred
  • 1-2 years’ combined experience in the following areas:  working in a mechanical / manufacturing environment; welding and fabrications; problem solving / troubleshooting mechanical equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) preferred
  • Entry level understanding of welding and grinding for basic repair or fabrication of equipment preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed repair drawings for construction equipment and machinery preferred
  • Basic understanding of electrical schematics preferred
  • Familiarity with MS Office Desktop, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing to various audiences
  • Prior welding experience preferred, welding certification a plus
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Highly detailed oriented
  • Problem solver
  • Upbeat, positive, high energy with a “can do” attitude; reacts well under pressure
  • Highest level of reliability and dependability

And would be interested in these responsibilities...

  • Training to provide 70% - 80% mechanical technical support in the field, including the following:
    • Installing and repairing BHS DRS Screens & family of equipment in specific bearings, chains, sprockets, including dismantling equipment when required for repair or maintenance
    • Installing and removing electrical motors
    • Troubleshooting mechanical and pneumatic faults
    • Aligning and calibrating machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation
    • Operating heavy lifting equipment such as forklifts, gradeall, boom trucks, etc.
    • Instructing personnel at customer sites on the safety, proper operation, and preventative maintenance of equipment to improve efficiency of customer productivity
  • Traveling up to 50% of time to customer sites to meet service-based needs, occasionally on short notice
  • Documenting all customer contacts and writes service and inspection reports as needed. Records any issues from installs and service visits
  • Assisting the Global Service Coordinator with administrative service setup and scheduling tasks, including identifying scope of parts needed determining hours per task, verifying shipping list have correct scope of parts to complete service duties
  • Completing other duties as assigned
