Optical sorting specialist releases new logos for NRT and In-Flight Sorting brands

Nashville, TN – May 16, 2013 – Optical sorting equipment provider NRT has released new corporate brand imaging, including new logos for the NRT and In-Flight Sorting brands.

The updated look reflects the growth and modernization of the company. NRT has pioneered many technologies that are widely used throughout the world, and holds more than 30 patents. Quality of technology, manufacturing excellence and first-class customer service have been ever-present at NRT’s Nashville headquarters, but according to NRT’s President Matthias Erdmannsdoerfer, the company’s outdated image no longer represented the company’s identity.

“NRT has been a technology leader and provider of best-in-class solutions for a number of industries,” Erdmannsdoerfer remarked. “We have been well known and very successful in secondary plastics processing, but haven’t made enough of an effort to market our technology elsewhere. NRT has some real advantages when it comes to optical sorting solutions, and we plan to let the world know about it. This is a big step in that direction, and we’re all very excited about our new, modern look.”

NRT was acquired by Eugene, Oregon-based BHS in 2012, which uses NRT’s optical solutions in the company’s turnkey material recovery facilities. “NRT houses some of the brightest minds in the industry, and the equipment backs that up,” said BHS CEO Steve Miller. “It’s a cutting-edge, innovative company with a storied tradition and a bright future, and this new brand image reflects that.”

NRT’s NIR, Color, Metal-Sensing and X-Ray technologies, among others, are used in a number of industries and applications, including MRF, Plastics Recycling, RDF, Biomass and Mineral, E-Waste and Diagnostics.

About NRT

NRT is a recognized leader in automated industrial inspection systems, materials handling, and process control, particularly in processing of materials for recycling. NRT was founded in 1981 as a developer, manufacturer and installer of high performance systems in the field of on-line industrial inspection and material separation. The company’s equipment utilizes NIR, Color RGB Line-Scan, X-ray, and electromagnetic sensing technologies, among others. In 2012, NRT was acquired by Eugene, Oregon based BHS. NRT values technology innovation, quality of manufacturing and a strong commitment to customer support.
Gurnee, IL – December 13, 2012 – Midwest Exchange Enterprises Inc. has selected Nashville, Tennessee-based National Recovery Technologies (NRT) to manufacture and install five optical sorting units to enhance the company’s PET (polyethelene terephthalate) recycling plant in Gurnee, Illinois.

The facility provides clients an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to using virgin resin. “Our goal is to eliminate our country’s dependency upon foreign virgin PET resin by manufacturing locally to produce recycled resin RPET from local sources of PET plastic,” says Alex Casillas, president and founder of Midwest Exchange Enterprises.

This expansion will double PET production at the plant, increasing PET capacity to 9,000 lbs-per-hour. The five NRT units – a SpydIR™ Reflective, a SpydIR ™-T, a ColorPlus™, a SpydIR™-T PET and a MetalDirector™ – will also create a cleaner end-product. PVC and other contaminates are extracted, resulting in an RPET product that is clean enough to be classified as food-grade by the FDA that can be used to create food and beverage containers.

For Midwest Exhange Enterprises, the decision to use NRT equipment came down to competitive advantages in technology, quality of equipment, and customer service. “Going through the process of selecting a manufacturer, we quickly learned that the perception is that the Europeans have the highest quality equipment. Upon further evaluation we came across NRT, and realized that they have a clear advantage when it comes to PET bottle sorting,” remarked Sargon Azzo, director of sales at Midwest Exchange Enterprises. “Their equipment is the best, and it was a breath of fresh air to be able to buy from an American company. From top-to-bottom, the NRT organization is extremely knowledgable and displays integrity throughout the company. ”

Equipment is scheduled to be delivered by the end of the year. For more information, contact Robby Parrish via email or at 615-734-6400.
